A Child Well-Being Law for
North Shore Communities
The Binoojii Adziwin Inakonigewin Project Team is undertaking a collaborative initiative with each of the seven North Shore communities to assist them in developing their own community-driven Child Wellbeing Law through community consultations, Anishinabek law-making and traditional child welfare research, and a comprehensive communication strategy.
WE DESERVE TO RAISE OUR CHILDREN THE ANISHINAABE WAY
Beginning in 2020, Mamaweswen has initiated the planning to write our own Abinoojii Adziwin Inakonigewin laws. We will no longer be bound to Canada's Western laws. We are Anishinaabe, and we will decide what is best for our children. In the coming months and years, we will be asking you to talk with us, to share with us, and to dream with us, moving us all to rethink what is possible.
COMING TOGETHER IS KEY
In order to figure out where we're going, we need to reflect on where we've been.
We are working to ensure the community and local leaders have the knowledge, resources and opportunities to make a real change in our communities. Learn more through these resources.
Participating in Community Consultations
Sharing Our Anishinabe Knowledge
Binoojii Adziwin Inakonigewin encourages everyone to participate in this process. The only way we succeed is when the change comes from within, and we want to empower you to take an active role.
